2 KJo hands vs same villain
Villain is olgimak, a 21/16/3.6 with AF's of 6.6/1.7/1.1 on flop/turn/river. He shouldn't know much about me, but probably views/assumes me to be a standard TAG.
Hand #1 happened first and #2 about 15 mins later. How was my line in #1 (what about $200 on river with $800 effective stacks intending to snap call a shove?), and thoughts on #2? Sorry if these are standard/boring, i'm reworking my game atm. #1 Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $6 BB (6 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com MP ($591) Hero ($1427.20) Button ($454.50) SB ($82.95) BB ($1099.30) UTG ($577) Preflop: Hero is CO with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero raises to $24, 2 folds, BB calls $18. Re: 2 KJo hands vs same villain
i'd raise/somewhat-reluctantly-call hand 1. only hands you're worried about are qtss/33 and he might push a big draw here.
call hand 2 with various turn actions. |

Re: 2 KJo hands vs same villain
Hand 1: Raise the turn. That card creates alot of hands that now are inferior that want to continue. It also creates a ton of new scare cards come river (that both kill your action or kill you).
Hand 2: Call. This is 4 handed and BN could be easily making a play on you. If you want to play shorthanded, you need to loosen your calling requirements. Also don't be surprised if he checks turn 90% of the time. |

Re: 2 KJo hands vs same villain
But if i raise the turn and get it in, am i ever going to be ahead? If i make it $450 i very much doubt he's going to shove a combo when he has like 0 fe. Maybe if i make it smaller, say $350 i will be more likely to induce a shove? Oh and 99/33/Q-10 are very real possibilities, not like i lose to one hand here. Any thoughts on river bet sizing?

Re: 2 KJo hands vs same villain
i'd probably bet like 425 on the river, make it look a little more bluffy and not so milky.
as for the range of hands that'll get all-in here on the turn, yes i don't think you're getting all-in against a worse made hand, but just because a worse hand won't call doesn't mean a raise isn't the best play. a draw here comprises a large % of his range imo, and even if he folds those everytime but goes all-in only with better made hands a raise can still be the best play. also, other reason i don't think we can fold to a shove is because of splitting possibilities with KJ... but yeah i'd raise enough to charge him but think mayyybe he has some folding equity with a draw, because i don't see how we can get away from this hand anyway... make it like 450 or something. i don't like raising too small because i think he'll just end up (correctly) calling it most of the time. |

Re: 2 KJo hands vs same villain
btw he DID underbet pot on the turn pretty hard, so 450 isn't even that big of a raise...
