Getting my own internet (US and Europe)

Hey,

Wasn't sure where to post this, but figured it might best fit here.

Right now I'm living in a frat house and the internet we have through Time Warner is absolutely terrible, resetting constantly. Their customer support is beyond useless, so I've decided to look into getting my own internet. What are my options? I only really need it to play poker, and go online, work, etc. (don't need for downloading).

Then, the other question I have is similar, except for in Europe. I'm probably going abroad to Barcelona in the spring, and I've been told that they're not sure whether my housing will have internet hooked up. What can I get (assuming like a wireless card or something) to allow me to have internet when I'm there? Once again, just need it to be fast enough to play a bunch of tables of poker.
