Default Surround Sound Hook Up

So with Halo 3 coming out, I want to hook up my surround sound. It's been set up for months now, but I never got the cables. I have a surround sound system, a plasma TV, and an x-box 360 to connect. I was told I need component cables to connect the TV to the sound system and then another special optical cable for the x-box to the sound system. Can someone confirm that? And does anyone know where the best place to buy this stuff is?

If you need more info on the hardware, please let me know and I will provide. Thanks in advance!

P.S. I know this isn't technically computer stuff, but it felt like the most appropriate forum.

i assume that your sound system has plugs where you can plug input devices (eg, tv, xbox, cd player, etc)

look at the back of your sound system, and figure out what you need to plug in, and think about where it would come from.

if your tv has component sound out, and your surround sound system has component sound in (whatever that is; I always thought it was an issue of coaxial vs optical), then obviously you need a cable that runs from your TV to your sound system.
