all-star? I'd like it, but very doubtful.
I'm just happy it looks like he can play everyday. |

I think it's not only possible, but likely that he's a future all-star. Mediocre AAA players turning into very good MLB players isn't all that rare. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, he's your typical mediocre AAA player. Ankiel has less than 800 ab's since 2005. His potential as a hitter is unknown since he's only been learning how to hit for the past 3 years. Comparing his minor league stats to other minor leaguers is pointless. |

Re: Cards call up Ankiel
[ QUOTE ]
I eagerly await RedBean's first post concerning Ankiel. [/ QUOTE ] I'd be surprised if anything ever comes from this report. Good chance that in a few months, hardly anyone remembers this story. Just like Clemens and Pettite being mentioned on the Grimsley report, the hundreds of players the Mets clubbie handed over, and the 50+ players suspended for violating the baseball steroid policy......nobody really cares aside from the day it's announced and it is quickly forgotten soon after. Remember, it isn't really about PED's, it's about career HR's. Don't be fooled into thinking anyone really cares about steroids or HGH, not in football, baseball, or any sport. The media has to give lip service to these stories for a few days to keep up the illusion that they care about any athlete with alleged HGH or steroid use, since they've painted themselves in a corner on the issue during the villification of Bonds. But we all know since Rick Ankiel is not Barry Bonds, this story is ultimately headed nowhere. However, I do feel bad for Ankiel getting caught up in the crossfire. |
