the indians would play a lot of september callups, i'm sure, but they wouldn't "throw" the game. similar situations have occured though.

and obviously i would rather them play the mariners over the yankees in the playoffs.

[/ QUOTE ]
yeah... they'd let the scrubs play... they would play hard... but still in the end lose.

miller will not be brough up.

sowers was sent to AA to pitch the playoffs and might be up after that.
i think people are wrong to write off sowers considering the great second half he had last year.

Um, he has horrible peripherals, and pretty much every SABR on Earth predicted that he'd have a horrible year...Cliff Lee, too. The only people who were surprised by his "collapse" were people who don't know much about baseball.

unfortunately wedge will almost certainly stick with borowski in the playoffs, even if he blows a save. all managers do this. i would prefer if he just left him off the playoff roster, to be honest.

[/ QUOTE ]

wedge doesn't even seem to have a plan b to joebo. there are days when joebo clearly doesn't have much of anything at all, but nobody ever seems to get up in the pen.

in october you can't think 'joebo got us here, i must stick with him.' in october you only give a damn about winning this game and worry about the consequences of those decisions tomorrow.

"there are days when joebo clearly doesn't have much of anything at all"

Easy rule of thumb for those days is whether the day in question ends in "Y".

I expected a pretty severe drop off, but the dude had an era nearly 7 after 12 starts- I don't think anyone was predicting that level of a drop off.

meh i didn't think sowers was good or anything, but i also didn't think he was really terrible. a fine fifth starter.

however, laffey has been pretty good. can't be too mad about that.

still waiting on adam miller though. :|
