Stacking off light
Beat: I was embarrassed to call Hero my friend after watching this hand.
This is at the $1-2 NL game at the Peppermill in Reno. Pretty standard, but I thought he was better than this, for some reason. Villain was very laggy, raising a lot pre-flop, and betting strong on the flop with made hands and sometimes draws. My friend's explanation after the hand was "I put him on a draw. I've never been so sure of a read in my entire life". 9-Handed game. Stacks: Hero (~$500) Villain (~$700) Everyone else (~$100-200) Hero limps from UTG+1, 2 limpers, Villain limps from HJ, 2 folds, SB completes, BB checks. Flop ($12 pot): 7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets $15, 2 folds, Villain raises to $50, 2 folds, Hero re-raises to $150, Villain calls $100. Turn ($312 pot): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Hero bets $100, Villain calls $100. River ($512 pot): 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Hero confidently bets $100, Villain calls $100. Final pot: $712 Hero confidently shows K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Everyone at table, including me, stares at Hero in disbelief. Villain shows 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Nobody at the table is surprised. Villain wins largest pot of the night with a 7-high straight. |
