If you get pocket pairs every 221 hands...
If you get pocket pairs every 221 hands, is the figure for AKs going to be similar? And how often does AK offsuit come up?
Thanks. |

Re: If you get pocket pairs every 221 hands...
I don't know where to begin... seriously. Please rephrase the question.
Oh, are you saying since each specific pair is 220 to 1 aka 1 in 221? Then asking how often you get AK and AKs and how often will you flop a pair with them? What does the pocket pair part have to do with anything? |

If you get pocket pairs every 221 hands, is the figure for AKs going to be similar? And how often does AK offsuit come up? Thanks. [/ QUOTE ] You don't get pocket pairs every 221 hands. The probability that you are dealt a particular pocket pair (say AA) is 1/221. The probability that you are dealt a pocket pair is 1/17. The probability that you are dealt AKs is 2/663 (4 combos out of 1326 possible combos) and the probability that you are dealt AKo is 2/221 (12 combos out of 1326 possible combos). Intuitively, there are 6 combos of any given pocket pair, 4 combos of AKs and 12 combos of AKo so therefore the probability of getting AKo > probability of getting a particular pocket pair (say AA) > probability of getting AKs. |

Re: If you get pocket pairs every 221 hands...
You get a pocket pair (any pocket pair) 1 in 17: example, dealt x; x of a differnt suit comes 3/51 times.
You get a specific pocket pair (i.e., AA) 1 in 221 times: example, dealt an A 4/52 times; receive a second A 3/51 times. You get a specific XXs hand ~1 time in 331 times: example, AKs is 8/52 (A or K as first card); receive suited counterpart 1/51 times. You get a specific offsuit hand ~1 time in 110 times: example, AKo is 8/52; receive counterpart 3/51 (the 4th card of the counterpart would make the hand suited). |
