Re: NL 50 river a set villian shoves
Hmmm... though for me. I certainly does look like T8 or some such, with the small bet and then push.
That said I'd probably call in the heat of battle... And if he's a donk he may have some two-pair here. |

Re: NL 50 river a set villian shoves
This is why you make c-bets.
It really does look like T8, or possiblly another set. I think you can fold this. |

Re: NL 50 river a set villian shoves
Why not bet the flop? Unless someone flopped two pair and wants to slowplay they should be leading this flop with a J or a 9 right?

Re: NL 50 river a set villian shoves
Well it looks like neither of them has a J, and if you bet and get called firing the turn will fold out 9's that check/called the flop.

I almost never c-bet this in multiway pots huge leak? [/ QUOTE ] No, I don't think it's a huge leak at all. As with nearly all situations in poker, this is hugely villain dependent. You raised this preflop to either win the pot now, build the pot making it much easier to get our stack in when we flop a set, or get it HU where a c-bet is much more likely to win the pot. None of those things happened here, the flop has brought two overcards, and you are against two opponents, one who you claim is a donkey. If I'm c-betting here, then I'm doing it with the intention of firing the second (and possibly third) barrel, which I'm not doing without great reads on my opponent (i.e can they lay down a weak jack to three bullets? Most donkeys can't). Also note that hitting your set also completes the straight draws of T8 and 86. I'm much happier c-betting AK/AQ here, as we have much better equity against their calling range if either opponent has a made one pair hand, and we can then decide on the turn whether to fire again, or take a free card and hope to hit one of our outs. C-betting 77 here and then hoping it is checked down is the worst way to play this hand imo. Against unknowns, I'm usually just giving up on the flop. |
