Bison,

I'm currently in law school and have callback interviews in Boston, Phoenix, San Diego, San Francisco, and D.C.

As you can see, I don't know where I want to live.

These firms pay for me to travel and check them out, and I scheduled them all for Friday or Mondays. I have been to all these cities, so I at least know whats up. My girlfriend, who will be accompanying me to whatever city I choose, has never been to any of these cities outside of Boston and NYC.

Now to my question:

What are some things we should do on a 3 day visit to figure out if its a place we want to live?

Obviously we're gonna go all over, check out different spots, restaurants, pretty much wander.

Any good ideas for how to figure out if a city is the right fit?

How would you compare/contrast the films "The Godfather" and "Mrs. Doubtfire"?

Male leads: Robin Williams is a funny guy who is practically uncastable, finding himself in what I count as 6 good lead/semi-lead roles. This is not one of them. Al Pacino is a great actor with limited comedic range, who's had 12 good lead roles. This is one of them. They were both pretty good but not great in Insomnia, which suffers from being a remake.

Female leads: Diane Keaton has never really done it for me, probably because I've never been a big fan of Woody Allen films. Sally Field really does it for me, though I've never seen the movies that won her Oscars. They've never appeared together in a film.

Directors: Francis Ford Coppola apparently spent all his creative energy in the jungle wrestling Marlon Brando for food. He is not as annoying or talented as Peter Bogdonovich, and he is not on TV as often. Chris Columbus is close to useless.

Score: 2-1 Godfather. In reality, The Godfather is better than Mrs. Doubtfire.

Can you compare To Sir with Love and To Kill a Mockingbird? I think that these films relate in some way that I cannot name.

I haven't seen TSw/L in a while, but I actually watched TKaM this morning, so:

They're both based on semi-autobiographical books, turned into good but kind of boring in an "it was made 40 years ago" kind of way movies starring good looking actor-type guys who act on screen like they're acting. There's just something about Peck and Potier's screen presence that says ACTING to me, though part of that is just the period when directors didn't really get it yet.

I think it's the diction.

Oh, that and it's about the dignity of black men.

Have you seen the movie City of God? If so, did you like/dislike? How does it compare with Children of Men, if at all? Thanks.

Haven't seen city of God, but I like Children of Men. So.

Bison,

I can't seem to get over this sort of mental roadblock I have about playing this one game I can make money at. Since I quit full time last year I haven't been able to put many hours in at all. I may have to get a real job sometime down the line if I don't snap out of it. What should I do?

I just graduated with a computer science degree but I suck at programming. I find it boring and my family thinks I'm retarded that I want to do something else with my life. Do I lose at life?
