77 River Bluff Raise
Bellagio
Villain hasn't played many hands at all, and they've been striaght forward when he has. He is certainly a TAG. Hero's image should also be TAG and once he check-raised the flop with an OESFD, and(obviously) bet it when it hit on the turn. Preflop: Villain raises UTG, Hero 3-bets 77 OTB, Villain 4-bets, I call. Flop: JT5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img][img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img][img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain bets, I call quickly. Turn: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain bets, I call quickly. River: T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Villain bets, I raise... |

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
Don't like it much; he'll only fold hands you are beating anyhow. maybe a fold from a pair of 9s, but even that is doubtful. Also that he has a single 9 when 4 betting preflop. Over-pairs call, AK/AQ you beat. Other pairs turned into sets. Maybe 88, but same story.

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
Fold preflop.
I think once you've called you should raise the flop and hope you get a check fold on the turn. Call river. I think almost everything better than your hand makes a crying call. |

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
eh seems read dependent to me. against most players this is spew.
it would work against players who are in love with 2+2 bet/fold gospel, but dont apply it correctly. it wouldnt work against players who know how to bet/fold, but also know that the only thing you're logically representing here is AKs/AQs, which is a pretty limited hand range. and certain worth "checking out" considering pot size. |

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
I think you're getting called. What are you representing with the bluff? A naked 10 isn't 3-betting preflop, and 1010 is getting more aggressive on the flop or turn. J10 is out. The only hands that you are representing legitimately here are AKs or AQs, but if your opponent knows your TAG he may suspect you of pumping the scare card. The pot's big enough you may get a crying call even if he buys it.
Have you seen this villian lay down to river aggression in big pots? Make folds in tough situations? Is your image super straight-forward or have you pulled any tricks that he's seen? If your image and his play match up this could be a good play, otherwise I think it's getting busted. |

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
What range did you put him on preflop? Was it wide enough for you to 3 bet him with 77? Just curious.

Re: 77 River Bluff Raise
Okay so you're repping the flush on the river after 3 betting 77 and getting raised PF by a TAG who raised UTG. So I don't like the raise at all and would simply have called and seen a flop.
This is a bit spewtastic all around. You'll most certainly be called here.. a PF quad-better ain't folding for one more bet on the river. |
