[ QUOTE ]
It seems to me that this is bad precedent for the internet, or at least US registration of internet addresses. What international company would register their internet address in the US in light of this? [/ QUOTE ] This isn't really any kind of precedent, it's pretty basic operation of the law of judgments. Party A has a judgment against Party B. Party A executes on the only asset of Party B over which the court granting the judgment has jurisdiction. It actually could be a lot worse for Ayre, depending where he has any other assets - aside from the inconvenience to Bodog players, this is primarily a negotiating tool for the plaintiff. And I maintain that Bodog committed a fairly gross error in judgment by actually letting the case get to the stage where they were subject to entry of a default judgment - it would have been relatively inexpensive to tie this thing up for YEARS just on the jurisdictional issue. |

wow, that patent infringement case is ridiculous! talk about using the system... lame [/ QUOTE ] This reminds me of the acacia patent trolling fiasco. They bought some lame pre-internet patents for a centralized movie library for hotel TVs and then tried to extort anyone with video on his or her website. Several of my friends got certified letters threatening lawsuits if they didn't settle for a percentage of their website income. Here's a little about it. |

What's the bottom line here?
Are we saying we should withdraw funds from Bodog? |

lol. So exactly why is withdrawing money the best option? Think about it, if they were indeed going down you wouldn't get your money anyway.
If you need the money withdraw it but your money is no less safe on Bodog today than it was a week ago. disclaimer: admitted Bodog fanboy since 1963, also I have a very keen since of the obvious |

Its business as usual at bodog, everything is running just as it was. This is just a domain name dispute because some douche is trying to extort money from online gaming sites because of a lame patent he filed back in the day. It's cleary an abuse of the system.
Withdrawing your monies is just alarmist and does nothing to help the problem. If you withdraw and play elsewhere that other site you choose is next in line for extortion because this frivolous patent potentially applies to ALL sites currently operating. |

Do you have a snippet of detail on the claims and how it applies to all sites?
