Default Mason\'s win rates

As many of you know Mason M. makes predictions on how many BB/hr an average/good/great player should make at different limits. (for LHE and stud)
Do any of you know if those predictions account for rake? I am trying to set some graduation requirements for myself and would like to at least cross the upper end of "good player" range before moving up. Is this reasonable plan or does the rake/tips lower those numbers quite a bit?
Thanks in advance!

It would appear you may be incorrect in your statement that many of us know this. Can you post a link to it?

I don't have a link, but I know what the OP is referring to - it is an article in one of the "Poker Essays" books, and I think there is a repeat or a similar one in "Gambling Theory" or possibly "Gambling for a Living"

Yes that is exactly what I was referring to. 1.5BB-2BB/hr was the good-great player ballpark. I will double-check tonight.

Ok to be exact:

3-6 Game: Ave:0.66BB/hr Good:1.33BB/hr Great: 2BB/hr

Is this a good estimate even after the rake+ tips are included? So unless I am getting 1.33+ I still belong in 3-6?
I agree that I could probably beat 4-8 game, but I would rather pay my dues while it is cheap and plug up as many leaks as possible while in the salt mines.

Play 4/8. It is easier to win at 4/8 than at 3/6. It's also easier to beat the rake. The pots look bigger and people chase more. It is a much more juicy game at most casinos.

Let's say you could play 3/6 at the Mirage or 4/8 at Bellagio. I'd skip the Mirage game like it never existed. There really isn't any valid excuse for not playing at least 4/8 if you're a winning player.

One piece of advice that seems to be given over and over again by people who have "made it" in Live LHE is to move up aggressively. Many of these players, when asked what they'd do differently if they had a do-over, say that they would have moved up more quickly. They are also very quick to point out that you don't have to take a test to sit at the 15/30 table; you literally just have to have $500 in your wallet. Or in short, fish play 15/30, too.
