Re: i always want to fold but i feel like i\'m supposed to call
I think given the position you were in preflop his range is much more weighted towards QQ, JJ then AQ, AJ, KQ w/ the flop action.

Re: i always want to fold but i feel like i\'m supposed to call
bah. i think saying check the flop is being a bit results oriented (we got raised), but I do think it's an option, but one that very well could miss a lot of value against this type of player when the flop turn and river go check/call. I think an idea of his preflop range is very important here. Relative positions def make me more inclined to check tho since it's way less likely he has a KQ/AQ/AJ or w/e all that often. if he's calling preflop with like QTs or something then I think you need to bet the flop, but if he's mucking something like AQ pre here then I think a check looks like a very good play.

Re: i always want to fold but i feel like i\'m supposed to call
AQ is possible, this is KQ pretty rarely and AJ essentially never. Checking flop is an option but not a great one. As played you can probably safely fold the turn and feel OK about it.

Re: i always want to fold but i feel like i\'m supposed to call
i check flop back so as to not let a random think AQ is the nuts here and c/r me off a better hand, and to induce on later streets. as played tho im probably stacking off against his stats, tho most think that is wrong?

Re: i always want to fold but i feel like i\'m supposed to call
I think checking this flop is a pretty good idea for a few reasons:
1) stacks. Its often tough to get stacks in good here when we're 150x deep. 2) QJ on board. Two very real dangers for us in terms of sets, but also we can pretty much guarantee to get as much or more value from one pair hands like AQ/KQ/AJ on later streets by checking behind the flop 3) we aren't too concerned about giving free cards here, really. some cards suck, but its not like we have to stack off if they come or anything. As played, probably get it in just because of how big the pot is and how crazy this guy seems from the limited sample of hands on him. |
