Re: Cont. bet ui AK
I follow your reasoning, but you stand little to no chance of taking this pot down uncontested with a mere flop bet, imo.
You bet here in higher limit games and you're getting raised most of the time. 2 bets to see the turn is not an attractive option for overs w/backdoor draw... |

Re: Cont. bet ui AK
Bet the flop. Check the turn, especially noting the OP said the table is full of loose passives.
You may be best here, people DO fold marginal hands that miss even in small stakes, no reason to give them a free card here, and you have a number of clean outs to what is likely the best hand. Add the deception value of a c-bet, the potential to buy yourself closer to the button, and a possible free card on a more expensive street, and betting is easy here. Once you have 2 or more callers, especially if they are loose and passive, check turn and take a free card if you can. |

[/ QUOTE ] Its not trying to take down the pot, its (in part) trying to increase your overall equity. If even one opponent folds, you accomplish that. If you get raised, you have a better idea of where you stand, and you're getting easily proper odds to call with what amounts to be a 5+ out hand. Never betting a flop like this with an unimproved AK is -EV. |

Re: Cont. bet ui AK
people are giving 40 and 80 VPIP villains way too much credit.
I'm only half-joking when I say bet the river for value |

Re: Cont. bet ui AK
With 4 players in a raised pot preflop, this is a large pot. You have 2 overcards (about 3 outs) a nut flush draw (9 outs) and a back door straight draw (1 out) for a total of 13 outs, meaning your pot equity is about 50%. With 4 players you will be contributing to only 25% of the pot, therefore you have a "pot equity edge". Bet, raise and reraise the flop for VALUE. While the turn was no help, checking here is fine because against loose passive players there isn't much fold equity. And ofcourse check the river when you miss because you don't bluff a loose passive player, let alone 2.

Re: Cont. bet ui AK
Bet the turn if there is a good chance villains will fold. With two villains on the turn in general, you should be less inclined to bet since you are unlikely to chase both out. However, at small stakes, there are a lot of villains who will call any flop (especially an innocuous one like this) but will fold to a turn bet. If both of these guys are that way, I would consider betting the blank turn.
