Is there any articles on the difference btw live and online play? I do very well playing 1/2 NL and SNGs live, but online I seem to be playing below average...even at micro levels like .05/.1. I don't use any of those poker analysis packages...do those make a difference? Anything else?

The accepted wisdom is that online is tougher than live.
Pcker tracking software is essential for online play: options are pokertracker + pokerace HUD or pokeroffice. |

I can't imagine that microlimits online are much tougher than low-limit live games. It seems they are about the same. My problem online is that I play too many marginal hands. I can be a lot more patient live, and I think I play better when I can see the opponent. It definitely helps online to have the software and maybe to play multiple tables so that you don't start playing junk just to be in a hand.
I also think at the microlimits online people play more junk in general and call down with more junk because it's so little money. This has been debated ad nauseam, though. |

I believe the rule of thumb (you might want to get confirmation on this before taking it to heart) is that you can take an online game, multiply the stakes by about five and get the equivalent live game. So live 5/10 limit plays like 1/2 online and 1/2 live no-limit is like the $25 buyin game. |

1/2 live = 10-25NL [/ QUOTE ] This makes no sense. On-line games play at about the same skill level as a game 3-5 times bigger in a live card room. So .5/1 100 NL on-line plays at about the same level as a 2/3 300NL and 2/4 400 NL live game. 1/2 200 NL on-line plays about the same level as a 5/5 500-1000 and 5/10 NL 1000 NL game live. 2/4 400 NL games on-line have winning players that would do well in 10/20 NL live games if they had the bankroll, the time, and the inclination to do so. I have no idea what happens higher than that. |
