Re: Beat: Daughter moving out tomorrow
TheBlitz, 3 questions (I'm genuinely interested in your answers. However, even if you don't feel comfortable to answer in this thread, these questions are necessary for your children's sake):
1) How old will they be when they can make all of their own decisions? Have you decided on a magic number? 18, 21, 25, 30? The reason I ask is because the transition to adulthood and it's associated decisionmaking needs to be started yesterday. 2) Why don't you trust your college aged children to be alone in a room by themselves with a person of the opposite sex? 3) What would happen if she was interested in dating a Christian? Would you let her date? At what age could she "overrule" your preference? |

Re: Beat: Daughter moving out tomorrow
does anyone else get a mental image of like a 55 year old OP talking about his daughter leaving and then get another mental image of a bunch of horny teenagers asking the 55 year old for pics of the daughter, and then telling the 55 year old daughter that she is going to get it in the butt a lot, or that "inspecting her cooch" might be a good idea.
im just thinking about this conversation happening face to face with no computers, and it makes the whole thing really funny. |

I am about to go through what you're finishing. I have 4 kids that range from 10yo to 18 months. [/ QUOTE ] Always be there for them. Support them when they are down but also give them their space. And most important of all, never be scared to show your affection. One hug is worth a thousand "I love you". |

Re: Beat: Daughter moving out tomorrow
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Ugh, you atheist douches go away plz. OP's naïveté has nothing to do with his religious beliefs. [/ QUOTE ] I don't have a beef with the idea of higher powers beyond this life. I do think dogmatic organized religion is wrong. OP's naivetty about his daughter may not be entirely cause by his religion as fathers in general just don't want to believe certain things about their children, however; Op's belief in religion and the way it affects his life is hugely naive in and of itself. [/ QUOTE ] However, my right to bring my kids up in a religious environment is exactly the same as your right to bring them up in a non-religious one. We all hope that our kids will follow our ways. If they don't we accept them anyway with all our love. |
