A goofy way to play a hand
$1000 live buy in event. Start with t2000. It's round 2 with blinds of 25/50.
Very loose player in small blind. Big blind hasn't shown any hands. I'm in the hijack seat with 4d5d. I open limp. The cutoff and button haven't played a hand yet except for the blinds. Small blind completes and now the big blind raises to t150. Small blind and me call. Flop comes 6d Td 5c. Small blind checks, BB bets t250. I call and sb folds. Turn: 6d Td 5c 7s Big blind bets t200 and I push. Big blind has another t1100 and I slightly cover him. Comments appreciated. Bruce |

Re: A goofy way to play a hand
can't really go wrong with the size of the draw you have, I find myself raising the flop more than the turn but it looks fine imo

Re: A goofy way to play a hand
i'd prefer to just get it in on the flop, but this seems fine too.

Re: A goofy way to play a hand
i think i would fold preflop (high five curtains) or raise to steal the blinds/steal the pot with a flop cbet. this hand just isnt that valuable with 40BBs.
i also think you should raise the flop (dont jam, raise to some amount thats clearly pot committing. or jam. whatever. theres like 700 in the pot when it gets to you and you only have 1850 left in your stack). here, you got really lucky that he made a bet on the turn that gave you the possibility of fold equity, but most of the time hes just going to pot commit himself on the turn... so i think in general you're going to be much better off sticking it in on the flop where you can give him a chance to fold a better hand. |

Re: A goofy way to play a hand
I would raise preflop, especially with nitty CO/Button.
As played, I raise the flop. As played to the turn, I shove. |

Re: A goofy way to play a hand
I didn't raise BTF b/c if I were reraised I would pretty much have to fold. If aggressive players were behind me to act I don't play the hand.
Raising the flop is probably the best play, but villian only bet half the pot. Had he bet more I would have raised. Bruce |
