JJ FTP $26 64 left
Villian is brand new to the table, has won 2 hands in 5 hands he's been here w/o showing down. Tourney started paying at 99.
Blinds are 1000/2000-250 Hero has 81,100 to start the hand and red JJ. UTG (69,500) calls, UTG+1 calls (81,200), hero raises to 6,000 (probably should have done 8,000, whatever), UTG raises to 14,000, hero calls (comments?) I hate the limp/raise, it looks like AA. Then again, this is late, and people don't usually pull that in late stages in my experiance. I decide that we're deep enough that I can just call and see what happens. Flop:686, two hearts I check, villian pushes for 55.3k. I'm calling here because that's way too much of an overbet and I doubt AA does it. I'm just looking for general comments here, and I thought the hand was interesting due to the deep stacks and late stage of the tourney. |

I'm asking for possible better alternative lines gentlemen if there are any. This is not a bad beat story.

Re: JJ FTP $26 64 left
Dave,
It's too early in the morning to analyze how to handle this pure, unadulterated form of retarded play (from villain). One thing I will say, Dave, is that when you raise 3xBB against two limpers, you better be prepared for the "uknown," like, UTG raising to 14K because he's not necessarily sure if you're 3X bet is some donkish idiotic play or not. I know you know your pf raise was a mistake (it was). Having said that, I think you should push preflop. He could be doing this with AJ or KQ or 99 or something to "test the waters" against what he thinks is a speculative hand on your behalf. This looks like a mating dance between two weird preflop lines, and once you can identify that, with this much in the pot, I take it down. On the flop, insta-call, because of what I said above. This is like level-3 play, except, terrible :-D. Barry Barry |
