Default Strong Ace In 3-way Flop

0.25/0.50 Hold'em (9 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 9, A.
2 folds, Hero calls, MP2 calls, 3 folds, SB (Villain) completes, BB checks.

Flop: (4 SB) A, 3, 6 (4 players)
Villain bets, BB folds, Hero ???

OK - So the pre-flop sucks and in middle position , with no limpers before I should have raised.

But on this flop I have a good kicker (especially as no one raised pre-flop). Would it be correct to defend with a raise to protect from player behind with one diamond? (if a diamond hits the turn i fold)

The pot is small and I probably fold this 3-way with A2 or A3. But with A9s are we good to come out fighting with what is probably the best hand?

From MP1 I probably prefer call to induce other to call, from MP2 and on I prefer to raise to steal the blinds sometimes

Raise the flop, you need to make MP2 to fold his hand, protect your hand is much better here.

Raise or call pf is table dependent. If you think you will get overlimpers calling is fine. If the blinds are nitty then raising is good.

call flop, pop a safe turn.

Raise pre-flop, this is a horrible hand to open limp with.

Bet the flop for value. There is no other reason to bet this flop. Flush draws aren't folding, OESD aren't folding. You bet here because there is a good chance you have the best hand and when you have the best hand you want money in the pot.

If you're ahead villain will often have a diamond, so knocking the 3rd guy out isn't too important in this small pot. I would call the flop and plan on raising a blank turn.

Thanks. not knowing how/when to bet for value is certainly a major leak with my game. hopefully not anymore!
