Re: One song to describe your life to this point
Illumination - Rollins Band
I walked green miles of jungle I walked through yellow miles of pain I crossed starvation's desert Watched dead rivers swell with rain The song of insects filled the air Nights in cites of despair Where killer's sons said, son beware And all the roads from here to there I sailed the sea of desolation Dropped my anchor there Plumbed the depths of isolation Walked its length and was not scared Went from end to end to end And then from there I went again The road that only this one knows Off to nowhere here I go Illumination comes so hard Makes me see but it leaves its scars At times I wish that I didn't know what I know now Thought and thought until I lost my mind Looked and looked until I went near blind The path is fair but so unkind Illumination At night the highway's diesel roar Speaks to me and tells me more Than any book I've ever read Or anything you ever said With silent eyes inside I watch myself and worlds collide The seasons burn and crack my skin I stay outside and live within Illumination comes so hard Makes me see but it leaves its scars At times I wish that I didn't know what I know now Thought and thought until I lost my mind Looked and looked until I went near blind The path is fair but so unkind Illumination |

Route - Son Volt
Reality it burns the way you were living, is worse Pillers of inspiration are all falling down the clean-up won't work while the fall-out goes on. Well it's, now or never too close to the latter we're all living proof that nothing last Standing in the neutral zone living on sleep deprivation the rural route sleeps while the city bleeds all over itself Over the falls in a barral is where the answers have gone. Well it's now or never too close to the latter we're all living proof nothing last Here for now, transient tomorrow were all living proof that nothing last The mother road remains it provides no more it can only take us away South bound, you can taste the weather it feels like home. And it's now or never.......... |

NIN- Right where it belongs
See the animal in it's cage that you built Are you sure what side you're on? Better not look him too closely in the eye Are you sure what side of the glass you are on? See the safety of the life you have built Everything where it belongs Feel the hollowness inside of your heart And it's all Right where it belongs What if everything around you Isn't quite as it seems? What if all the world you think you know Is an elaborate dream? And if you look at your reflection Is it all you wanted to be? What if you could look right through the cracks? Would you find yourself Find yourself afraid to see? What if all the world's inside of your head Just creations of your own? Your devils and your gods All the living and the dead And you really are alone You can live in this illusion You can choose to believe You keep looking but you can't find the woods While you're hiding in the trees What if everything around you Isn't quite as it seems? What if all the world you used to know Is an elaborate dream? And if you look at your reflection Is it all you wanted to be? What if you could look right through the cracks Would you find yourself Find yourself afraid to see? |

Re: One song to describe your life to this point
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile? Well it's you girl, and you should know it With each glance and every little movement you show it Love is all around, no need to waste it You can have a town, why don't you take it You're gonna make it after all You're gonna make it after all How will you make it on your own? This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone But it's time you started living It's time you let someone else do some giving Love is all around, no need to waste it You can have a town, why don't you take it You're gonna make it after all You're gonna make it after all |

Jason's Head - The Dead Milkmen
Jason said he's gonna get you in the bed But when he does in the morning you'll be dead Jason can be a friend to the end She said "Jason close your eyes and count to ten" I think it's obvious Jason got real pissed About all the guys she kissed We're goin' down, down, down to the ditch Where she said she hid What's left of Jason's head She was out with a guy in her backyard getting high Jason said he'd drop by He came over for a swim, he was looking mighty trim A shot of jealousy stabbed him And I think it's obvious Jason got real pissed About all the guys she kissed We're goin' down, down, down to the ditch Where she said she hid What's left of Jason's head What's left of Jason's head What's left of Jason's head When you wake up with the sun Your whole world will be undone Like a bullet in a gun You'll be waiting to be sprung Jason's head will not be found Keep it buried in the ground Remember, stick to your plan Wipe the blood off of your hand |

Re: One song to describe your life to this point
actually, I want to change my answer to another TVZ song -
I think 90% of 2+2 could be summed up by this one - ------------------- Ride the blue wind high and free She'll lead you down through misery Leave you low come time to go Alone and low as low can be If I had a nickel I'd find a game If I won a dollar I'd make it rain If it rained an ocean I'd drink it dry And lay me down dissatisfied It's legs to walk and thoughts to fly Eyes to laugh and lips to cry A restless tongue to classify All born to grow and grown to die Tell my baby I said so long Tell my mother I did no wrong Tell my brother to watch his own Tell my friends to mourn me none Chained upon the face of time Feeling full of foolish rhyme There ain't no dark till something shines I'm bound to leave this dark behind Ride the blue wind high and free She'll lead you down through misery Leave you low come time to go Alone and low as low can be |

Before: (Eudcation, miltary, work)
Rollins Band:What Do You Do When no one will listen and time won't wait When you see yourself and see the one that you hate When the night lasts forever and time stands still When you see yourself and want to kill When the world doesn't fit the head on your shoulders When you punch the walls and feel the world's fist The big ideas you have leave you feeling so small I can see it in your eyes you can't deal with it all What do you do when you want to get over What do you do when you want to get through What do you do when you just can't take it What do you do when you just can't fake it anymore Feel the pressure Feel it squeeze The eyes in your head The heart in your chest Where's the answer Where's the release What do you do When the lies that they told and the price that you paid Force you to see the mistake that you made When they shake your hand and stab your back When frustration paints your four walls black When they pick you up and let you fall When you find their something is nothing at all When ends miss ends and the endlessness sends you Down to the bottom of the drain in pain When you're pushed to the edge and can't maintain Now: (post Thailand move) Jimmy Buffett: Changes in Latitudes I took off for a weekend last month Just to try and recall the whole year All of the faces and all of the places Wonderin' where they all disappeared I didn't ponder the question too long I was hungry and went out for a bite Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum And we wound up drinkin all night Chorus: It's these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of our running and all of our cunning If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane Reading departure signs in some big airport Reminds me of the places I've been Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure Makes me want to go back again If it suddenly ended tomorrow I could somehow adjust to the fall Good times and riches and son of a bitches I've seen more than I can recall Chorus: These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same Through all of the islands and all of the highlands If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine I wish I could jump on a plane So many nights I just dream of the ocean God I wish I was sailin' again Oh, yesterday's over my shoulder So I can't look back for too long There's just too much to see waiting in front of me And I know that I just can't go wrong Chorus: With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes Nothing remains quite the same With all of my running and all of my cunning If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane If we weren't all crazy we would go insane |

Re: One song to describe your life to this point
Frank Sinatra - What Kind Of Fool Am I Lyrics
What kind of fool am I, who never fell in love? It seems that I'm the only one I have been thinking of. What kind of man is this? An empty shell, a lonely cell In which an empty heart must dwell? What kind of lips are these that lied with every kiss? That whispered empty words of love that left me alone like this? Why can't I fall in love like any other man? And maybe then I'll know what kind of fool I am. What kind of clown am I? What do I know of life? Why can't I cast away the mask of play and live my life? Why can't I fall in love, till I don't give a damn? And maybe I'll know what kind of fool I am. |
