Re: enduring temporary, but excruciating, pain
[ QUOTE ]
Well, I'm fabricating this - suppose they limited the pain to the threshold of consciousness. [/ QUOTE ] For 2 weeks, non-stop? You're psychologically effed forever. |

Re: enduring temporary, but excruciating, pain
if you told me i had to kick heroin for a billion dollars that's no problem. if you told me i had to endure torture that basically pushed me to the brink of unconsciousness and was as brutal and unforgiving as the torturer could make it, i would think twice.

either you are trivializing serious heroin withdrawal, or I'm taking the tidbits that I've read way too seriously.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, read about people who've been tortured in American rendition facilities. For the most part, they're really screwed up for years afterward, and what they're put through is a drop in the bucket compared to what OP describes. Thanks but no thanks, even for a google dollars. |

if the pain is really that bad, there is no way people go through it more than once. [/ QUOTE ] its so bad that they don't go through with it at all. they stop, give up, and retain their addiction. then the idiot therapists convince them to try again, and the pain is too great, and they give up. its not like people are kicking heroin, then starting up again 6mo later for shtts and giggles. |
