Default cashing a check

where can i goto cash a $2k i get from my poker site, it's from Nevada and i live in another state?
I paid my taxes for the last 2 years I've been playing but still would like to avoid trouble if i can.
My bank or any store I've tried won't cash it, only deposit.

Close your bank account and go to a bank that accepts checks. I've never heard of a bank you cant deposit checks at. And what does this have to do with avoiding taxes, I'm confused??

Those check cashing places will take personal checks up to 10K even at 3am - haven't you seen rounders?

iv been wondering somehwhat about this... does cashing a check at a place like this somehow aviod the taxes... im sure these places get audited themselves, but how likely would the IRS see your (2)2k checks being cashed, plus your
6k ACH deposits on an audit and send up the tax evation flag?

How about depositing the freakin' check today and making a withdrawal tomorrow? Or even at the ATM outside the bank 10 minutes after you turn in the check to the teller?

It'd sure be less expensive than paying fees to a check cashing shack, and less time-consuming than waiting a day or two for advice from 2+2.

It has nothing to do with the check being a poker site check, banks generally won't let you cash a check unless you have funds in your account to cover the amount of the check. THey don't want to get stuck with a bad check and left with trying to collect from you.

Unless you can find a branch of the bank that issued the check you have to deposit it and wait for it to clear.
