Default Curse you Bioshock!

OK so I got into the game a bit too much - like a sick amount played a day since it came out...

Now my Xbox 360 seems to have fried - the video goes 'wonky', and when I reboot the 360, I've got purple bars scrolling across the screen.

I've replaced the cabling & confirmed that the TV is working properly. I waited 30 minutes in IVR hell and finally spoke to someone in Microsoft support who told me that I can get it repaired - however, since there aren't "red rings", it's going to cost me $100.

My question - is there a way to force the red ring error on the 360?

Are you sure that your box is really fried? Nevertheless, I heard that the cause of the red rings was that a chip wasn't firm in place. So you might wanna try shaking it a little. But I have no idea if that will a) work and b) void your warranty. It sure sounds like you didn't take care of ventilation enough, though.
