Re: Basic math question
[ QUOTE ]
In the deck there are assumed to be 2 more 9's and 3 more 2's for a total of 5 cards. After dealing 2 to everyone, burning one and laying 3 down for the flop, there are 30 cards left in the deck. Out of the total 30, 5 will improve your hand and 25 will not... [/ QUOTE ] Whoa! Back up a bit. You've just assumed that there are no 9's or 2's among anyone's hole cards or the burn card. You cannot assume that: those cards are unknown to you (unless you make a brilliant read based one someone's action, and that would only apply to that one player's hole cards). Basically, you have to look at the odds of your 5 outs appearing among ALL UNKNOWN CARDS. That's 47 cards at this point (52, minus your 2, minus the 3 flopped). |

You must include all unknown cards when figuring your odds. |

Re: Basic math question
Do you guys think easier to do fractions or percentages? I almost think I have a learning disability with math since I'm so slow at it. So for outs I always do the shortcut outs times 2 plus 1. But trying to divide bet by bet+pot(if I even have that right) can be real cumbersome for me. So I was wondering what way you think is easiest.
