Re: Phil Ivey is the most SUCCESSFUL player in the world? (not best)
[ QUOTE ]
because BB started out as a professional poker player to originally make money, all those other people became rich and then played poker as a hobby [/ QUOTE ] Because the reason Mr Baldwin is where he is today stems fromm the fact that he was a successful poker player. He used to practically live at the GN in the 70's when Steve Wynn took a liking to him and made him a paid consultant for first the poker room then the whole casino. Then after a couple of years in that role, he became the president of the whole hotel, then when Mirage opened he became pres. of the mirage, then pres of bellagio, now he is in charge of Project Citycenter, which will undoubtedly be the biggest and grandest casino complex in the world. The most expensive privately funded constuction project in US history put it this way-If Bobby or Doyle woke up with Hellmuth's money, they'd slit their throats. |

Re: Phil Ivey is the most SUCCESSFUL player in the world? (not best)
I guess I should probably chime in.
Different players specialize in different games... I might take Joe Cassidy over Phil in limit hold'em, Chris G. (Superfish) over Phil in 2-7 trippledraw, perhaps David O over Phil in Stud, and maybe even Patrick over Phil in PLO. But in the overall picture (and especially NLH tourneys), you can pick your guy. I'll put my money on Phil. |

Howard and Ferguson should be up there with Baldwin. If we're using the "everytime you play a hand of blackjack..." for Baldwin, then you should consider everytime you play a hand in fulltilt etc.

[ QUOTE ] someone in another thread said last year he sold 30 mil of stock. someone else said you could look up exactly how much he is worth, but im too lazy for that. [/ QUOTE ] Ever wondered how much our casino execs make? Let's just say that no matter how high the price of gas goes, these guys will be able to afford it. According to a recent newspaper report, the five highest paid executives of publicly traded companies in Las Vegas are: Frank Fertitta, Station Casinos, $42.8 million; Bobby Baldwin, MGM Mirage, $38.5 million; Bill Boyd, Boyd Gaming, $37.9 million; Terry Lanni, MGM Mirage, $31.5 million; and John Redmond, MGM Mirage, $29.6 million. The dollar figures include short- (salary) and long-term (stock and options) compensation. http://www.reviewjournal.com/lenny/2006/0712.html [/ QUOTE ] Now that is power |
