Buy in for more than 500$ because its live and like you said its straddled often. 1k-1.5k$ because you will end up with more than 500$ in many occasions anyway, there is very little play with 500$ and if you plan on playing tight and solid or non-gambly anyway you still want more than 500$ so you get paid off a lot better in the "few" hands you play (its omaha so its not actually that few). With 500$ its like wait wait wait shove yes double up now I can start actually playing.
