I'm not saying it's a good way to play a set, but people get really committed to trapping with sets.

Fine, but if this is the case why is he pushing the turn when he fills up?

to get overpairs in at this point, way too many cards that kill action on river.

i can't explain every one of villain's actions but it looks like JJ is beat a LOT here

Because he made a full house!

Why would 86 or 76 play this way either?

Just because a guy has managed to be 20/16 over a small sample, we shouldn't assume he's rational and plays well.

God knows there are a lot of times I don't.

Well, I turned this hand around because I was interested how close a fold was with an overpair against a push on this board.

I was villain and had 56s and I knew I made a mistake here, overestimated the calling range from my opponent.

only read I had was that he was probably decent and he had a tight preflop raising range.

because it was not likely that I would ever slowplay (a set) on this flop and there were draws out there I decided to push here. I just figured the river could totally kill the action if he had overpair and a reraise would have been very suspicious. I only hoped villain would not believe my line after the flopcall and put me on a (flush)draw or 78 (tilt) but I guess it would have been hard to get more money in anyway in this hand anyway.

The only hand that really makes sense is 65s, dunno if that's in his preflop range though.

Ringmaster was pretty correct in his first reply.
