Default A9o SB, vs a couple of limpers, raise/complete?

No reads about the shorty, table is loose.

Button ($40.40)
Hero ($51)
BB ($83)
UTG ($67.80)
MP ($14.50)
CO ($40.95)

Preflop: Hero is SB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
1 fold, MP calls $0.50, CO calls $0.50, Button calls $0.50, Hero raises to $4, 1 fold, MP calls $3.50, CO folds, Button folds.

Flop: ($9.50) J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $11, MP calls $10.50 (All-In).

Flop is standard for me in this situation.

However, I am only making this play preflop if I think it is going to take down the pot right there most of the time. I dont want to play this hand out of position at all, especially not while building a large pot. Overall I like making this play, but you should tighten up your range just a little bit.

Your pf-raise is pretty insane. On the flop, there's nothing else you can do but shove.

I check the flop usually. Shorty's are liable to call with a huge range of hands

Edit-- Also don't raise pf

Since the table is loose, you have to expect your raise will get at least one caller. You have to ask yourself if you really want that. Personally, A9o is not a hand I want to be playing out of position. Preflop, it would be a good idea just to complete or fold, unless you have a good reason for raising.

And c/f? Won't this villain bluff us off the best hand too often?

maybe sometimes, but I think it gets checked behind alot if we're ahead.

if we bet, he's gonna call us with any pair and probably any 2 broadway. We have very little FE. I'm ok with conceding the hand to a shortie who shoves in his stack when I check.

I hate your preflop raise more than I hate my job.

I raise to 3.5$ instead of 4$ pre. and i just bet 2/3 pot on flop and call a shove. Too often the village idiot (Shorty) will call a big raise pre and fold flop when he missed (which is alot more often then not) OR call your flop shove, with a worse ace, any 2 broadway cards or a pair, i think you win this pot w/o showdown alot more often then not.
