Default reaction to open-limps NLTRN

A friend of mine analyzed some videos i made (50$ HUSNG). He critizised that i almost never raise on the BB when villain open-limps.

What or when do you raise in these situations?

I would like to hear some rough raising-ranges angainst differents types of opponents like loose-passive, loose-aggressive etc.

Hi Schpacko,

If Villain is not routinely limping his button, then you should raise for value with good hands that play well after the flop. It's hard to give a % since the "play well after the flop" clause is key; e.g., top 20% would be a rough number, but you should be much more inclined to raise QJs than A3o, even though both are top 20% hands. This is because you will have a much better idea where you stand after the flop with the high suited connectors than a low ace. Meanwhile, the low ace still has solid showdown value if the hand gets checked through. How good an ace do you need to raise here? Roughly A8o. This may be a little tight, but it's better to err on the side of caution when building a pot early with 3 potential betting rounds to follow OOP.

Typical raise size is 4-5 BB since you generally prefer to end the hand early when OOP, and 3 BB offers your opponent 2:1 in position.

One time to open up your range is against tight-passive players. Their limps are rarely tricky plays, so you can raise hands like 78s or Q9o. You'll often take it before the flop, and if not, the c-bet has excellent steal value when you miss.

Feel like posting some of these videos you've made? I'm sure you would get plenty of more specific commentary.

Best Regards,
Collin

I can post the videos, but the comments are in swiss-german, so i'm sure noone in this forum will understand my Level 18-thoughts And i have to admit that there are some REALLY fishy plays.
