Re: 100 NL - AQo versus cold callers and short stack push
Calling pf is bad. Either raise or fold, and that is dependent on villain's range. With dead money in the pot (assuming you raise) there are ranges you can get involved against, I think, but without reads a fold is probably best.
As played, just push the flop. It's a huge pot, you aren't folding, and you really don't want KJ to get a cheap next card. For those saying to bet/fold because it's a protected pot, this is pot is way too big compared to stacks to fold. We only have to be good here 33% of the time, and you'd never fold if this was an $8 pot and the other stacks had $8 behind. |

DB, are you saying the 3 or 4 rounds things because after that time they tend to catch on and the profitably drops severely. If that is so why not play more like 40% and keep it going all night? [/ QUOTE ] Cos it's funner. Seriously, I think going at it really hard makes them keep thinking 'he MUST have it this time'. There's a table dynamic sets in that everyone seems to get into foldbot mode, and you can rampage all over them. And yes, after 3-4 rounds TOPS, they get sick of it and start playing back (else some leave and decent players step in that won't be so easy to run over). Nxt time I do it, maybe I'll paste all 20+ hands to demonstrate how to treat weak-tight tables (mercilessly, of course). |

Re: 100 NL - AQo versus cold callers and short stack push
If you want real fun with AQ, l/r it UTG. Most people don't handle UTG l/r well, when you end up playing a limped pot you can get value from weaker aces that call behind you, and it's easy to dump if you are 4bet.

That's why I think AQo is a reasonable limper in EP as part of a solid Lag strategy. You get worse hands sticking around.

[/ QUOTE ] Indeed a good play. I use it in MP sometimes as well. Speaking of the ole l/rr, it is a fine play to make sometimes with medium and small PP's. |

[/ QUOTE ] Indeed. Besides, we all said that we would raise it from EP if felt there was money to be made else where. However, if you have a bunch of decent players to your left I am not sure where you plan to make your money with the hand when you get raised. Read... have fun playing in a raise pot with AQo OOP against a player who will often float you and steal pots from you. |
