not only would UB never stake Phil to play 300/600 because that would be an insanely stupid waste of money...there's very little chance that Phil would purposefully play as badly as he does.
This thread is taking on a new level in Phil-defending stupidity. Nobody's particularly 'jealous' of his cash-game abilities or anything like that. People have just seen him lose more and more money in cash-games, get tiltish in the chat-box, and then lose some more with REALLY bad play. It has happened over and over in his cash-game play. Nobody has any alternative motives here. If Phil was a cash-game winner or, at least, played half-decently, then I'm sure most people would be saying, "he's a dick...but hut he's a good tourney player and he's not too horrible in cash-games either." |

[ QUOTE ]
There is no way that UB stakes him to play 300/600(or other games for that matter) and get killed for 20k+ just to show the regular SH HU specialists(who have nowhere else to play that high) a good time. The man makes all his money from marketing. Plain and simple. Is he a profitable tournament player? maybe. The rest of the field is just that bad. Is he even in the top 5% of tournament players? No way. If his ego weren't so big, he would be playing 50/100 or so, where he could carve out a small living by playing tight and beating the bad players. As is, he plays too high and just gets runover by better players. If the 100 people who play the game say you're the fish, and are dying to get into the game with you, you are the fish. No matter how many books or bracelets you have. [/ QUOTE ] Have you read my earlier post? He has made his living of playing poker, cash games from the beginning. So, the only thing I can think of is that phil sucks at internet poker. The other professional mouth is also a good example in this case. However, I can't judge it because I haven't seen phil too often playing online. The only thing I know is that he has his contractual hours and that he gets a compensation. That's all. I'm not trying to sell a product or whatever, just telling what I know. No one can clarify my story though, the one in which he played online and in real life at the same time. |

Another Phil Hellmuth thread? Can't we all just .. get along?
Phil sets a bad example for anyone watching and hoping (for same strange reason) to learn something about poker. His childlike outbursts, errrrr, extremely childish outbursts and the berating of his opponents are apparently good for ratings. Repeat good for ratings. However, a lot of younger poker players make his rediculous antics part of their own game. This is not good for the game, it's only good for Phil's endorsements. Regards, Carl |

"Is he a profitable tournament player? maybe."
?????? Are you an idiot? MAYBE??? Come on. "Is he even in the top 5% of tournament players? No way." So Phil is not better than 1 out of every 20 people that enter the WSOP? Are you insane? |

Not better then all, but better then 99%...
Also, his 9 bracelets ARE a standard of excellence. By your reasoning Doyle must be a bad tourny player, because hell, he only has 10 Bracelets in over 30 years! If you dont have 1 bracelet, you dont have the right to putdown a guy with NINE, it would be like Uncle Reco (Nep. Dinamite) calling Joe Montana a bad quarterback... Get off your damn highhorse... Just my Opinion TIG |

First of all its he's better THAN you not THEN you... Phil you're an @$$hole talented, but still an @$$hole [/ QUOTE ] While we're splitting hairs, wouldn't the proper usage be talented @55hole not the other way around? Edit: For the record, the guy is TV gold. He's arrogant, conceited, but above all FUN to watch. I believe he's smarter than anyone gives him credit for. |
