I'm glad Hill is gone but Blanco? BRING UP SOTO ALREADY!!! I know he will be up when the 40-mans start, but not playing the best catcher in the entire organization is silly. He is TEARING the cover off of the ball in AAA.

And will Ronny Cedeno ever do anything when he gets a chance to play? He's had shots the last two years for extended periods of time, and now with the Fontenot/Theriot/DeRosa combo in the middle infield, he's wasted his chance to earn a spot.

Soto went 1-7 when he got called up. Obviously he had his chance and blew it.

I don't get the Cedeno/Pie moves. Does it really help us to have them sit for the last 2 months of '07 and get maybe 50 PAs off the bench?

if the '06 cardinals can win, the '07 cubs are a virtual lock to win the WS.

hahahahah.... so cute
let's see-led the national league in wins in 2004 and went to the world series
led the national league in wins in 2005 and lost in the NLCS

finally, got it's core group of players (Eckstein, Edmonds, Rolen, Pujols) healthy for the playoffs in 2006
got rid of Izzy who blew 10 saves out of 43 opportunities and replaced him with arguably the best closer in the league last year in Wainwright

Had the best 1-2 punch in the national league with '05 Cy Young winner Carpenter (who finished 3rd in 06 voting) and Jeff Suppan who went 6-2 with a 2.38era the second half of the season (best among playoff pitchers)

hmmmm....core of back-to-back best record in national league in place, best 1-2 starters in national league, and best closer....

but, stay fixated on that 83 number

amazing that you can think the Cards were the worst champs ever with the White Sox team the year before

the 04 and 05 teams choked big time.

BTW this year's team should be a 90-100 loss team. Tony LaRussa should win manager of the year if they end up with 78-83 wins
