Weird spot.
Let's say you call: unless a 9 or the case 8 hit on the last card it is dangerous to raise the river. Raising tough kills the action from an improbabel bluff and gets you reraised when you are in a bad spot. Anyway, the way it was played makes me think of a straight with JQ; call, see what MP2 has to say and then check/call the river. |

I'd call here and re-evaluate on the river. The only hand that made the straight on the turn is 6-7, and IMO anything that had you beat would've bet to protect against the drawy flop (but maybe I'm wrong). You're getting 2.5 to 1 on the bet (assuming MP2 folds) and you've got 10 outs on the river (though they may not all be live).

That's an interesting hand, Gobias Ind. What hands do you think that your opponent might play it this way with? Some of these hands give your opponent a straight. You're in the worst shape against another set, because you'll be almost drawing dead. Do you think it's possible that he slowplayed two pair on the flop?
Also, how does MP2 play? What are his possible holdings? Is he capable of raising you in case you decide to call? I think it's important to answer these questions in order to be able to answer the ultimate question 'What should I do here?' |

Re: NL50: Turned bottom set, Button takes weird line . . now what?!?!
This really feels more like AJ, J9, JT to me than QJ. If the button had QJ I think he's betting the flop most of the time. Maybe he has 67, but that seems sort of unlikely.
I think we're ahead most of the time here. That said, we have a super awkward stack size to be shoveling more money into the pot. I think we probably don't want to give the villain the chance to put us all in, so we are sort of boxed into calling. Unfortunately, we are going to have a tough river decision. |
