On the other hand, if you do want to play PS2 games on your PS3 then you should just buy it (the 60GB) right now for $500 for the emo/emulation hardware.

[/ QUOTE ]

If you are going to play PS2/PS1 games on your PS3, you are stupid if you don't get the 60gb version, EVEN if there wasn't a cost difference.

You believe there is that much difference in the two different emulation systems?

There is a massive difference between hardware and software emulation.

Hardware emulation would be analagous to there literally being a PS2/PS1 inside of your PS3. The game code is run 'natively', and there will rarely ever be any major complications.

Software emulation is writing software that 'interprets' the code of a game and tries to then convert that to something it can run. Many games will not run entirely properly, others not at all. This will only be magnified if working on their software emulation / releasing game specific patches is not a big priority for Sony.

Has anyone had problems with the hardware emulator on certain games?

Supposedly its much better then Xbox style Emulation, but of course not as good as the Emotion Engine.

They shouldn't because it 'is' the PS2 chip. The PS2 is inside the PS3 so everything should run just as well if not better on the PS3.

Ok, thanks. I assumed that was the case but wanted to make sure. Now I'm more interested in buying a PS3.
