Default range for raising in SB and BB....
when there's a limper?
One situation where I usually find myself lost in is when a LAP limps and I pick up a decent hand in the SB or BB, something like A9s, ATo, KJo, etc... I have no idea whether to raise, complete the SB, or check the BB. Stox's book omits these type of situations, probably because there's hardly any open limping in the higher games. So that said, I like to know what you raise with in these spots. |

Re: Default range for raising in SB and BB....
To me, it really depends on the game. If the BB is tight, then I might raise with a pretty wide range of hands just to try and make him fold. Same goes for if I'm in BB and the SB is tight. That way I can usually get a pretty good feel for how he views his hand (depending on if he calls, reraises, etc). Of course, I'm not doing this every single time, just enough to make sure that he's afraid to enter a pot with trash.

Re: Default range for raising in SB and BB....
I raise all of them. I generally compl with non sd hands like QT TJ or small pairs up to 55. I dont think the BB matters much
since ur ooP vs a LAP and basiclly need to hit a hand or have sd value. I can be wrong though. |

I raise all hand I decide to play in SB and raise any hand in BB that I would have raised in SB.
