Default Hand question...

Here's a scenario that I was just thinking of based on a real hand.
Notes on player... overaggro against hero in general. Is an overall good player. Has been 3-betting hero light, and probably has noticed hero folding to aggression a lot.

Hero is 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in BB
Folded to button, who raises, SB folds, Hero calls.

Flop 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
Hero checks, button bets, hero calls

Turn Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
Hero checks, button bets, hero raises, button calls

Are we betting the river if we don't hit our outs? What if we hit an 8 or a 9?

Here's another situation:

Hero in BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
Folded to SB who raises, hero calls

Flop is 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
SB bets, hero calls

Turn 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Would you go for the raise at this point or call? Why would you do that?

Normally I would like to c/r that flop in hand 1, however if this guy will 3bet light & is over aggro I tend to just peel & c/c turn.

Second hand I sometimes raise the flop against an aggro, mainly due to them being oop & I don't expect them to fire back as lightly. Although he may put us on a FD here, I do it 'cause I raise with a pair here as well. Against someone who is incapable of folding I'll prolly just call.

Also how did ur interview go?

1) after button called i don't think he is folding to another river bet, i would not bet an 8 or 9 for value, it''s the 3rd pair, i doubt a lot of worse hands call here, button calling the turn raise is something to worry about...

2) i'd raise because you get some folding equity and if ahead you can protect your low pair vs overcards

Interview went GREAT! Sometime I should tell you guys how hard it is to get a job if you have a Ph.D. The interview process is absolutely ridiculous.

hand 1 check/call if you make a pair and obv C/R a straight imo. sometimes the passive play is the better one.

also against this opponent CR flop is bad as he'll auto-3 bet

hand 2 still just call. dont worry about him having 4 outs to outdraw. call any river UI. you dont really represent anything with your raise so he'll likely 3 bet any overpair and fold all his 4 outers - both bad things.
