I would bet 2/3rds of the pot on the flop and call an all in. If I check behind I am going to be confused on "later streets" and I would rather get it in here then when something like the 8sp comes on the turn and he has spades, or 89, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

you are confused on later streets because you are a nit and not used to playing past the flop without three of a kind, a full house, or a pair of aces in the hole

flatting pre is by far the best play imo, and checking the flop is good

Smooth calling pre is good. Flop I could go either way, checking seems good. Turn, this is a great shove, Villain is going to be in a world of mental hurt if he had you beat with a red overpair.

Why do most of you prefer checking the flop?

i feel like a small bet on the flop is more theoretically correct than a check.

Why? Can you explain this please.

(i am villain, and yes, I have a new sn)

fwiw, the way i played this hand was just based on the tiny history of that session and table dynamics on the same tables we were at.

I think your check behind on the flop is the best play, as others are suggesting. definitely. And by the time we get to turn, and you push, I pretty much figured you for either QsQx/JsJx. Just by the way I had been playing, I don't really mind that turn push. I am interested to hear if you put me on AsKx (as I thought you did)... maybe I shouldn't say anymore that might reveal what I had though

actually, I don't think that turn push is all that good when I come to think about it. You are only gonna make me fold trash hands that I might have (not likely though) continued bluffing with on river. I wouldn't be comftorable with QQ in that spot though. But that hand I would have played differently probably (lol i don't wanna give anything away haha).
