Re: Ballys Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I used tp play Ballys but the only reason I went there was to smoke. I made one trip, got the news and have not been back since. I don't hate on people that don't like the smoke, but it was the only place in town for us dirty filthy smokers to go and play cards and light up in peace. You could have at least left us with that! [/ QUOTE ] You do realize Ballys didn't do this right? So don't blame ballys with the "you could have at least left us with that!" statement when it holds no truth whatsoever. The State of New Jersey made it illegal to smoke in casinos quite awhile ago. They all have a designated "smoking area" which is quite small, and the poker rooms are not in such an area. [/ QUOTE ] Photoc, I'm no legal expert but I don't think this is right. The only reason I say that is because smoking in the Ballys room survived for a long time after the law went into effect in AC. Also, a couple of people have mentioned the racebook area and a wall, etc. The racebook area is also smoke free now. This is my biggest problem with playing there now. You literally have to go down the escalator onto the casino floor to light up. There isn't anywhere on that floor that you can smoke. |

Re: Ballys Atlantic City
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The law limits smoking to 25% of the casino floor, and there's no rule that the smoking areas be contiguous or separated from the non-smoking areas. There's no legal reason that an AC casino couldn't include smoking in all or part of its poker room. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, the law provides that the casinos must make the smoking areas separated by floor to ceiling walls from the non-smoking areas within 9 months of the law being enacted. They would have had to install doors or something to separate the race book from the poker room if the poker room was to be smoking allowed, or include the race book in their 25%. [/ QUOTE ] Oh really? I didn't realize this. When does the 9-month mark hit? At present, the smoking areas at the Borgata are all jumbled in with the non-smoking areas. |

Re: Ballys Atlantic City
how DUMB to feel like rifflng the cards again would have any effect on the jackpot getting hit. thank God there is no time charge in the $1-2 NL game like the $6 per half hour in ceasers indiana. anyway anyone who wants to can look for TONY in the $1-5 stud game later today at ballys. will play til the last stud game breaks. be ni8ce to meet some other members of 2+2. after knocking my roll down to $1300 from $5500 cause of BJ, i cant afford the $1-2 NL games. i could if the minimum buyin was only $40 instead of $60.

Bally's certainly does NOT have such a wall between the racebook/Keno area (where smoking is allowed) and the poker room, where it is not. Wish that they did. Lee |

Re: Ballys Atlantic City
Tony,
Sorry, but I'm not there today. Will be tomorrown. Too many other things to do. Then again, I'm tired of Bally's not playing fair with comps - and I do want to try the 5 - 10 game - so I may well go to the Hilton or Tropicana instead. I'll see how I feel when I hit AC. Lee |

Re: Ballys Atlantic City
I was there last night. Sorry that I missed you. Was playing 1-2 NL after 6:00 pm. Interesting change from stud. I'll be back at Bally's tomorrow (Wednesday).
