One thing that really bothers me reading this thread is that everyone keeps talking about "playing looser" at 6 max. TBH I think I play a little tighter at 6max then I would at full ring if the first 3 players had folded. Stealing blinds is WAY easier at full ring.

This is correct, IMO

I played 6-max for most of the first 1/2 of this year. The variance is gross.

QFT. A lot of people will say "I don't mind the variance since I have a big roll and I know I am a winning player at NLXXX". While this may be true, try saying this after losing 15 buyins without having made many errors in your play. I had this happen recently at 6max. I reviewed my sessions and found a few errors but not too many (I'm sure that I have leaks in my game, but I am also fairly sure that I am +ev at NL50). I think that very few players at low limits have the mental strength to play through downswings like this. I certainly don't and I needed to stop for a few days to recover my confidence.

I tend to not play 6-max because the format brings out the worst in my game. Full ring I'm patient, calculated and aggressive in a targeted way. 6-max brings out the stupid aggressive in me. Stupid-6-max-I-can-take-this-pot-away-tilt.

I don't play 6 max because the rake hurts more and I spew chips more.

turbo doesn't fit my personality

Is it possible to be sucessful at both games at the same time?

Like it I was a medium stakes player Id want to be able to pick the best games wether they be FR or 6max.

i think its possible..but very hard to do. ive been concentrating on FR for the last 3 months, and when i jumped in a 6max game a few weeks ago, i got chewwed. i was forgetting how to handle light 3 and 4b's, and also not VBing as well because i was thinking in terms of FR in certain spots.

again, its possible. but hard as hell. i find concentrating on one game at a time to be better for me (not forgetting concepts from other games...just not tryying to b "expert" in more than 1 game at a time)

I play both, but my long term winrate at six max is about double what it is at full ring. I play full ring whenever I feel like turning off my mind and just going on autopilot 9+ tabling while watching TV, this might be the reason why the winrate is so much different.

The play at six max is much worse, and it's fun to be able to value bet tp/tk on the turn without it feeling like a bluff. The play at full ring is so straight forward though that it's pretty easy to make the right choices most of the time and feel good about it, even if it's not as profitable.

This month I won a prop bet which required me to play 25k hands of 600NL fr...what a huge joke...

25,001 hands of 600nl fr $10,336.55 3.45bb/100

now

22,097 hands of 600nl 6max? how about: $17,059.75 6.43bb/100

$7k more for 3k hands less? what a huge joke full ring is...

I started off playing FR and just sorta kept with it. Im gonna stay with FR until i get 100-150k hands at 200nl and a good win rate. Then cont. with FR but start learning 6max, starting out at 50nl and setting up rules to move up.

I play a lot of lives games at casinos which is obviously FR. I find that playing FR online makes the adjustments from playing online to live much simpler than if I went from 6 max online to a live game. I'm sure some players would have no problem with it, but I don't think I'm one of them.
