Re: 10/20 Deep tough river decision against JMC.
[ QUOTE ]
I'm a small stakes player, but i'd be glad to hear, why betting the turn is bad. [/ QUOTE ] who said it was? It is more of a matter of balancing than anything. |

Re: 10/20 Deep tough river decision against JMC.
All this talk about jmc being the best 10/20 online player or whatever and being very controlled got me looking through my db.
I came across this for starters: Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $10/$20 Blinds - 5 Players jmc2536 (SB): $3,750.00 BB: $1,244.70 UTG: $2,442.00 CO: $410.00 BTN: $7,739.50 Preflop: is dealt (5 Players) UTG folds, CO folds, BTN folds, <font color="red">jmc2536 raises to $70.00</font>, BB calls $50.00 Flop: ($140) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 9 T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players) <font color="red">jmc2536 bets $120.00</font>, BB calls $120.00 Turn: ($380) 4 (2 Players) jmc2536 checks, <font color="red">BB bets $200.00</font>, <font color="red">jmc2536 raises all-in to $3,560.00</font>, BB calls all-in for $854.70 Uncalled bet of $2,505.30 returned to jmc2536 Uncalled bet of $0.00 returned to BB River: ($2489.40) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players - 2 All-In) Pot Size: $2,489.40 ($3 Rake) BB had T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (two pair, Tens and Nines) and WON (+$1,241.70) jmc2536 had 8 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (two pair, Nines and Eights) and LOST (-$1,244.70) Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $10/$20 Blinds - 5 Players SB: $5,045.00 jmc2536 (BB): $2,030.00 UTG: $310.00 CO: $2,087.00 BTN: $4,267.00 Preflop: is dealt (5 Players) UTG folds, <font color="red">CO raises to $70.00</font>, BTN folds, SB folds, jmc2536 calls $50.00 Flop: ($150) 6 4 9 (2 Players) jmc2536 checks, CO checks Turn: ($150) 2 (2 Players) <font color="red">jmc2536 bets $120.00</font>, CO calls $120.00 River: ($390) A (2 Players) jmc2536 checks, <font color="red">CO bets $255.00</font>, <font color="red">jmc2536 raises to $840.00</font>, CO calls $585.00 Pot Size: $2,070.00 ($3 Rake) CO had 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (a straight, Six high) and WON (+$1,037.00) jmc2536 had 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 ([7h 7d] a pair of Sevens) and LOST (-$1,030.00) after seeing just these two im more inclined to call but after consideration prob fold this one but call in other similar situations. |

[ QUOTE ] i c/c river as played i fold [/ QUOTE ] Really? I think you lose a lot of value not betting this river. Bet/fold is fine. [/ QUOTE ] I also like a river c/c here way better than a b/f. I can't think of many hands that calls this flop and wouldn't bet this river. |

I think we're losing a ton of value by c/c river here.

I think the river bet is a no brainer, and c/c is pretty results oriented here. |

Re: 10/20 Deep tough river decision against JMC.
c/c and bet/fold and bet/call all have their place against specific opponent types, IMO. c/c is obviously the safest. bet/fold is okay against many weak opponents but leaves you open to being outplayed. the problem with betting against strong opponents is that they will value bet KK, but they will turn 88 into a bluff before they just call your river bet with is since your line is pretty obvious. so you dont really lose value from hands like KK since they will value bet them for you and you allow yourself to be outplayed if you're folding. but if you're bet/calling then fine. but then of course you get stacked every time you're behind. i dont think c/c is baaaad, really depends on the opponent... against such an unpredictable opponent, i think it's ok.

Re: 10/20 Deep tough river decision against JMC.
77 I would say almost certainly. I can't beleive, given the hand events, he's bluffing here. You played it like many would play AJ - unless your 3 betting range is higher than to include AJ (from BB given his pos) and he knows this - then perhaps he's making a play. There lies the critical bit of info for me. Does he know your game? Are you likely to 3 bet AJ from here?

Re: 10/20 Deep tough river decision against JMC.
I just think that any good player knows that their line here is textbook [censored] especially with no draws to speak of that he almost can't be bluffing.
But then again maybe you are both that deep in levels of thinking. I'd fold because its obvious what you are repping and it seems clear that this is a very -ev spot to bluff. |
