Calling against someone you know has AA or KK?
Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.15/$0.30 Blinds - 5 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)
SB: $31.60 BB: $41.40 UTG: $61.45 Hero (CO): $62.15 BTN: $268.70 Reads: Villain is 42/25/1.9 over 60 hands. Has never 3bet. I am certain he has AA or KK. Very passive when he misses, overly aggressive when he has a hand. Preflop: Hero is dealt 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (5 Players) UTG folds, Hero raises to $1.05, BTN raises to $3.60, 2 folds, Hero calls $2.55 Pot Size: $7.65 Is calling here terrible, knowing that if you hit your hand you can double up, and if you don't you can just let it go? I'm the initial raiser trying to steal since button has been letting me. NOTE: If I'm not opening the pot obviously I'm folding. |

this is what deep stack poker is all about... call, flop a monster, and extract. your implied odds are great. Note that with normal 100bb stacks i would fold.

Re: Calling against someone you know has AA or KK?
It's not like you will have position throughout the hand, so you pretty much have to hit very hard. And with your cards so low your straight possibilities are limited. In fact your hand is [censored]. Just fold quietly.
I also don't know why you got the idea that a 42/25/1.9 still to act makes your steals w/ 42s profitable. I just dump it straight away. Edited as response to Ama's post: I don't think paying 4% w/ such a low one-gapper is profitable. But maybe it's too much reading the SSNL board. |

Re: Calling against someone you know has AA or KK?
Why the crap are you playing 42s...just fold it. If he has AA your straight outs are [censored] anyway.
You're so unlikely to flop something you can continue with I don't think this is worth it. It would have to be 2 pair+, so you're like 24:1 to flop two pair and like 120:1 for the flush. If you think he'll overplay his hand badly enough that you can stack him 100% of the time when you hit, then I guess you can call... |

Re: Calling against someone you know has AA or KK?
Yeah I was confident I could stack him in the upper 90% range if I hit.
As far as his VPIP, it is high but he was respecting my raises. I had only showed down big hands so far at this table. I was thinking 2 pair, flopped set, or flush/straight draw wouldn't scare him much and I could take it to the turn and see what happens. Maybe FPS, but like ama said I wouldn't be doing this with 100bb. |
