If it's a USB mouse, try all different ports obviously, if it's a PS/2 mouse (roundish thing with green plastic around) then pull it out, put it back in and make sure it's in correctly, restart your PC (these type of mice don't work until you restart windows) and it should work. If you've tried all of this then i'm guessing the mouse is broken, try another mouse, if that also fails then your PS/2 or USB port(s) are broken.

if windows wont reload, you could be having hard drive problems. Good luck.

How old is the laptop?

By "does not seem to load" do you mean you get a blank screen when you restart, or is windows stuck on the loading screen?

You were pretty vague in your question. What type of mouse do you have? What type of laptop? What type of mouse is in question here? What exactly have you tried? Do you have the right drivers? Have you tried updating the drivers or downloading new ones? etc

Oh yeah and the idiots at geek squad usually have no idea what they are talking about half the time. Its just a bunch of A+ cert nerds that couldn't land a real job with a big companies IT department. /end geek squad rant
