Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
pokerboy is mostly correct although I do my math a bit differently and believe it is slightly more accurate. It's somewhat nitpicking but when we're looking at 2.5 cents vs 3.5 cents per VPP and stuff like that I think it is necessary.
I also think there should be a multiplier at 750k or that re-structuring some of the post 500k VPP bonuses should be considered. Considering that this is a 250k stretch with nothing in-between I don't think it would be inappropriate at all to think that a $10k bonus at 750k VPP's plus some sort of FPP multiplier should be considered. Probably getting a little greedy on that one though but whatever. You get more from the 200k stretch from 300k to 500k than you do during the 250k stretch from 500k to 750k. That's just weird. Pokerboy is correct that it should continue to increase. Anyway, the way I calculate all this stuff is bit more accurate than pokerboy imo. The biggest differences I do are that I look at the true number of VPP's necessary which includes those extra few you need to clear the milestone purchase. I also subtract $750 from each milestone because that's the value of the FPP's to me that I would have otherwise spent on a $1.5k for 100k FPP supernova bonus. So to my mind it is not $2,000 at 200k VPP's. It is more like $1,250 for 205k VPP's. etc etc I do not view it as $14k for 500k VPP's. I view it as $11k for 520k VPP's. Pretty significant difference. Overall though I agree that some players will have a decision to make as to whether they want to continue on after they hit 520k-ish VPP's or if they want to take that opportunity to explore other options and check out other sites. Obviously this is the last thing Stars wants to see happen. But if you already know you aren't going to make it to 750k then it's a very real consideration. For me, this will depend on when I get to 520k-ish and what I think of my chances of making it to 750k. If I give myself less than a 100% shot of making it to 750k then I might just play elsewhere. Seems unlikely though. I should probably have plenty of time to get to 750k. Next Q is whether or not the next milestone bonus is worth it, especially considering the slight risk in my case that I might fall short and end up with 0. For the first $11k for 520k VPP's it is 2.1 cents additional per VPP which is on top of the 5.25 cents I am already earning via my 3.5x FPP's so it's a total of 7.35 cents per VPP. 2.1 cents extra is fairly nice. It's like an extra 40% on top of your current RB rate that you are getting via ONLY FPP's. So if my RB rate via straight-up VPP's is 30% then tacking on 40% of that is an extra 12%. So that takes me up to 42% RB when you add on those milestone bonuses. And, of course, right not I'm between the 400k and 500k bonuses. So I have the $5k bonus coming to me in a little while so each VPP I earn right now is significantly more valuable. I'm in my 100k VPP stretch where I'm earning an extra 4.25 cents on top of the regular 5.25. Anyway, after that when I go from 520k to about 770k to get another $7000 will be only 2.8 cents per VPP. This isn't as great as the awesome incentive I had to play between 310k and 520k which is almost 3.6 cents per VPP ($9k in total bonuses minus $1500 in FPP's spent to get them. This is $7500 for 210k points). But it's still better than my overall rate that I received for my first 520k VPP's overall which I already said was 2.1 cents. It's closeish considering the chance that I might not make it. But in my situation I think it's still enough to make it worth my time. Especially including the ridiculous possibility that I get cranking like crazy and somehow make it to Elite. For others who will have a slimmer chance of making 750k or pretty much know that they are never going to make it I think that ONLY getting the 3.5x FPP's makes it tougher to stay there just to finish at 600k or 650k-ish VPP's which is nothing extra vs. taking the opportunity to check out other sites and then coming back to Stars in January. |

Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
Also should be noted that if 50k FPP's is more valuable to you than the regular 1.5 cents rate you get for the 100k VPP bonus purchase than that should be factored into the value of your Milestone bonuses.
In other words, if you spend your FPP's on concierge stuff at a 1.6 cents rate then it is actually costing you more than $750 to spend 50k FPP's for each milestone purchase. At 1.6 cents you are spending $800 per milestone bonus, not $750. Your first 520k VPP's earned you $10.8k instead of $11k imo. |

Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
I'm pretty sure I will make it. So far 520k for yearly. 75k this month. However, I am done with school so I should be able to put in enough hours to do it.

[ QUOTE ] If your monthly average is 55,690, that means you will be at 668,280 at years end. Your going to have to really step up your volume of play to achieve it. [/ QUOTE ] I'd love to know how you got that number. How does he get less than 100k more vpp this year when his rate is more than 55k per month? [/ QUOTE ] Probably the simple math of 55,690 x 12? OP could have made his post much clearer by stating YTD rather than yearly, I was confused initially as well. No matter, everyone seems to have figured it out now. |

Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
Bob,
you're method of calculation is certainly more accurate. I was just trying to keep things simple while I compared the relative value of the various levels. So it wasn't really important to me if they were off a little bit; as long as they were all off "in the same direction". I think the main thing here is creating incentive for the 500k-900k players. For what it's worth, I think the following would accomplish that: 200kVPP=$2,000 300kVPP=$3,000 400kVPP=$4,000 500kVPP=$5,000 625kVPP=$5,000 750kVPP=$5,000 |

Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
$5k at 625k and $5k at 750k seems much more reasonable to me.
I think 4x FPP's at 625k or 750k should be considered also. right now it's 3.5x FPP's for SN's and you get 5x FPP's at SNE. Something in-between would be nice. Part of the reason for being all nitty about the accuracy is in determining TRULY whether you want to push on to try for 750k or not. Without knowing the exact incentive...which includes the exact amount you made for your first 500k...I don't see how one can determine whether they want to try to get there or not. I was very much considering the possibility of just dropping out of Stars for a stretch after I get to 520k. But after crunching the numbers a bit more I've decided I will probably stay. |

yiikes.
for some reason I did the 750k milestone as $7000 instead of $6750. Worth a little less than I thought. |

Re: Official Supernova Elite Thread
In terms of $-wise, this proposal doesn't really cost that much extra for Stars. I think in terms of extra play from players with more incentive, this would actually be +EV for them.
Bob, I wouldn't be opposed to a 'rate-increase' at 750k. In fact, that would probably motivate me more than anything because [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]fpps. But it's possible that that may be asking for too much. |
