You can tell me. What's the movie?

Well, I could be wrong It's been a while since I have seen it. But I am 99.9% sure it is from Alfred Hitchcocks "Rope" starring Jimmy Stewart.

Rope eh, I've never even heard of that one! You guys sure know your old movies.

So MrBaseball, do you know the picture I posted above with the guy playing the guitar? Does anyone else recognize it?

Actually it's kind of unique. There are only 2 or 3 shots (I think? maybe more?) in the entire movie with near constant filming and no breaks. I'm sure one of the real film experts could explain it better. I'm just a movie watcher

And I have no clue who the guy with the guitar is.

mrbaseball was spot on - it's from Rope

The film's played out in real time (with vast windows at the back of the set showing the New York skyline changing from late afternoon to evening as the film progresses), and Hitchcock tried to do it as one continuous shot, so there's only 4 (I think) visible cuts in the entire movie.

The reels of film they were using in '48 only lasted 8 minutes, so every 8 minutes Hitchcock zooms up on something dark and made the entire screen black - giving him a chance to start a new reel of film but keep the soundtrack running so it appears the whole thing is one continuous take.

Oh, I liked that movie -- Stranger than Fiction. So I guess the guitar guy is Will Ferrell. Emma Thompson was awesome in that (but I'm not sure I've seen her in a movie that I didn't like).
