NL 5 - T\'s facing open shove
Fairly basic - call or fold? Also what hands would people call this with? Also, stack sizes - Whats the range for a 50bb and bigger?
Only 9 hands in so no reads. Party Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.02/$0.04 Blinds - 9 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter) SB: $6.54 BB: $2.48 UTG: $4.92 UTG+1: $5.25 MP1: $1.29 MP2: $4.90 MP3: $7.17 Hero (CO): $5.00 BTN: $9.26 Preflop: Hero is dealt T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (9 Players) 2 folds, MP1 raises to $1.28, 2 folds, Hero?? |

Re: NL 5 - T\'s facing open shove
I guess you have no reads, but he's short enough that I'm going to call.
This is probably about as low as I'm going to do this though without reads. Possibly 99 but I think I'd fold 88 and under without some sort of read that he is pushing pf lightly. Actually, instead of calling we should probably push. I'm not really wanting anyone else to come along for micro ai ride. |

Re: NL 5 - T\'s facing open shove
If MP1 had just just lost a big pot, he might be steaming and do that with any pair and AK, maybe even AQ. Against most of those hands, TT is ahead.
The problem is that you have two large stacks still to act. I would probably grit my teeth and call. If BTN or SB then shoves, I'd say it's time to let out a profanity of your choice and get out. With stacks like that, they can't be total morons. I wouldn't call with anything smaller than TT though. |

Re: NL 5 - T\'s facing open shove
I'm folding. Had a similar hand where UTG pushed and I was in MP3 with JJ. Was thinking that it had a feel of a player who wants to push his last hand before leaving, and I called. He showed KQo and I took the pot, but later I was thinking that it was a donkish play by me, since if anyone is pushing after me I have a very hard time calling - even if I pushed someone with say QQ+ AK is probably joining in for the fun all-in fest. Even though I assumed UTG's range would be pretty wide, I still can't think its likely to be a coin flip except for a few lower pairs which I crush. My reasoning for folding is that I don't want to gamble too much with villains at my level when I assume my odds to win will be about 50%, since I just don't see any value in it. It would be different if there were a lot of dead money and there would be some FE, but in this cases I think its better to fold and wait for the numerous spots you will have to put your money in when you know villain is beat.
With queens though I'd insta call and with jacks I'd have a tough decision to make. |
