$2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
Which game is it correct to play tighter in?
A 2plus2 book I've read in the past covered this, but I've forgotten and the book was a loaner from a friend. My assumption would be to play abit looser until the turn in the 2-5 game, as the pots would be bigger at the end. Is this correct? Any thoughts? |

Re: $2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
Implied odds are slightly better, so your speculative hands such as small pairs and SCs are slightly more valuable -- especially small pairs, as they will have made their set before you get to the turn.
If we're talking live poker, though, both should be loose enough that it won't really matter much. Is $2-5 limit a Canadian thing? I saw it at Branford once. |

Re: $2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
If both are structured games (not spread-limit), then implied odds are greater for drawing hands, but reverse implied odds are greater for made hands in the $2-5 game. Some kinds of hands benefit (pairs, suited connectors). Some lose value (unsuited big cards). You should be more inclined to pitch weak made hands with little chance to improve. I'm not sure what the net effect is as far as whether or not you should play more loosely.

Re: $2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
Thanks for the feedback guys.
AKQJ10, it might be a Canadian thing, my questions stems from playing the $2-5 limit at Casino Rama in Orillia, ONT. |

It's not just a Canadian thing, they have 2-5 at Foxwoods.

Re: $2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
$2/5 fixed-limit? They've always had $2-5 blinds no-limit, but that makes sense because you want to play NL games with $5 chips.
If there's actually $2/5 limit, it must be new in the last six months. When I played there it was always $2/4 and $4/8, both with yellow $2 chips, which is ridiculous. Limit wants to be played with lots of chips, not one chip/two chips. |

Re: $2-4 vs. $2-5 Limit
We've now branched to talking about Foxwoods. I went there all the time between 2004 and 2006, and never saw a $2/5 limit game.
My guess is the $2-5 at Foxwoods was referring to NL, but hopefully Zifadel can confirm. Regardless, I don't think $2/5 limit is common in the US. I've not seen it in some 30-40 casinos I've been in. |
