Default what should i do 2p2?? (comp question)

ok so i have been doing research and have decided to buy the new apple iMac. i will be able to dual boot so i can play online when i want too....

so here is my question, i know that apple is coming out with its new operating system in like October. i leave for school at the end of aug. so should i wait to get the new iMac until the new operating system (leopard) comes standard, or should i buy now and update later???

Is there a reason you chose an imac? Personally I don't like them for the avg user. They are overpriced and have too much power needed for the person who needs to surf the web, play poker and type up docs. If you are absolutely sold on a mac I would get OSX and just get it now. It's very stable and won't be replaced for a while, plus every ap you want will be available for OSX while the new OS may or may not have either of these features. Just my $.02

as long as you have enough of a computer to get you through 'til October, why not wait?

I have no Mac experience, but I always give it at least a year before adapting to the latest version of Windows.

I just read today where there is no upgrade path to Leopard from the new iMac.

linky

"But Apple iMac product manager Laura Metz told me there is no migration path for those who buy a new iMac now to get a free upgrade to Leopard next month.

So be warned: If you buy the iMac now, you’ll have to pay for $129 Leopard in a little over a month if you want to upgrade to the new system."

god you have no idea what you're talking about.

leopard is the new version of OS X.

op -

if you're getting a mac (good choice imo) an imac will be fine for you. the new ones are pretty cheap, look good, and have a ton of power.

no need to wait for leopard to come out, although i would recommend waiting until apple starts doing their "free upgrade to leopard" thing if you don't need the computer right this minute.
