I wanted to check and then bet anyway
Full 60 game. Villain is some young guy who is running pretty well so he obviously thinks he is a genius because when you win every hand you play for 3 hours straight you must be great.
Villain raises UTG, some fish calls in sb, I 3bet AsKs in BB, villain calls, fish call. Flop JJ6r Fish checks, I bet, villain raises, I call Turn K I bet villain calls River T I bet villain raises, I can't think of a single realistic hand I beat |

Re: I wanted to check and then bet anyway
me either, but i'd call just to see what genius has. if he's got TT or AQ, then put him on a real power trip...

Re: I wanted to check and then bet anyway
any read besides the fact that he's running well? his hand looks an awful lot like TT. though, an argument can be made in favor of calling since a lot of these young guys who run well in a session will sometimes do some stupid [censored] like bluff-raise the river. but what hand could he have that would raise the flop, call the turn, and raise the river as a bluff? i'd vomit and fold.
also, from his perspective, the most likely hand you have is what you actually do have. unless he's a moron, he's not going to try to bluff you off of ak on that board. |

Re: I wanted to check and then bet anyway
I agree with the post title; check-call the river.

Re: I wanted to check and then bet anyway
hmm, yeah. this is one of those spots that is really villain-dependent. i mean, if it's a donk/tilter who refuses to fold his 88 or whatever, then i would bet. but, against a good player, it's hard to imagine a worse hand he would have that would call us on that river. qq is all i could think of. check-call is seeming more and more attractive.

Re: I wanted to check and then bet anyway
I think I would check call turn, since he's going to bet it 100% of the time anyway and we realy don't like calling a raise also
then I'd b/f river |
