Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
Have you discounted Britain? Sure it's expensive but at least you won't have to learn the language

Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
Amsterdam is not a good place atm to move to if you are really serious about poker.
Personally I don't think it will ever go that far but government wants to make a pokerroom (holland casino) where all dutch residents have to play on and pay taxes and [censored]. I'm not from holland but I think you perhaps wanted to know the poker climate over there (at least thats how I understood the articles I read about it) It would be pretty [censored] up if you settled down and had to move again bc of problems to play poker. |

I remember reading the EU commish is pro gambling and they will fight for the right to gamble online. |

Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
yeah, that is exactly what will happen in the long term (like it happened in Italy f.e.)
but there's a new law that will most likely start 1 january 2008 where online gambling will be banned and no one really knows how far they will go with it. http://www.pokertips.nl/nieuws/Petit...e%20Pokerbond/ [ QUOTE ] De Nederlandse regering staat op het punt per 1 januari 2008 pokeren op andere sites als Holland Casino te verbieden. [/ QUOTE ] translation: the dutch government is about to sign a law to make it illegal to play on any internetpokerroom other than Holland Casino poker room as of 1-1-2008. Government wants to track the dutch online room (that will join crypto ppb) and make sure they get 40% of monthly profits as taxes. Don't know what will become of it, just saying the climate is not healthy for poker there in the future and you should perhaps dubbelcheck that option. Not saying you can't move there offcourse, just be warned that's all. |

Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
I i were to move in another city in Europe i would definitely choose Barcelona.
Poker is legal there. It has casinos, good night life, ton of young people from all Europe, all the equipment you can expect in a big city, a Club that is good at a lot of sports if you want to see some (soccer, basket, handball, even American football i think). And the weather is nice too. |

Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
I'm from Slovenia. I don't recommend moving here. It is very nice country but cities are small and boring, people are frustrated by politics.
Italy isn't so bad option.... |

Re: Moving to Europe (I hope)
In England (i have heard) all pokerwinnings are taxfree; including winnings in Vegas.
In other countries (Denmark) it is only on EEC (Europe)-based pokerrooms that are taxfree; ie. Party, Ladbrokes, pacific etc. |

How would I go about getting a german visa? [/ QUOTE ] If their residency visas are like their work visas, good luck. I think they're one of the strictest in the EU. |
