Re: Accused of cheating
[ QUOTE ]
How the hell do I handle this situation. [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like you already did (handle it): [ QUOTE ] I almost immediatly left the game and made a pretty harsh comment on how was down a few hundred in an easy game, and told the host I would not be coming back for him not entering the conversation and getting my back. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Leave game immediately. 2. Pepper exit with harsh comment or two. 3. Tell host he's seen the last of you at his table because he didn't have your back. 4. And lastly, find another home game in Puget Sound area. No more confusion, problem solved. |

Re: Accused of cheating
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] As far as "cut cards" are concerned. They do not protect you against bottom dealing. With a little more practice you can deal the second card from the bottom while leaving the cut card in place. The cut card actually helps a bottom dealer because it gives people a false sense of security. The good news is that you are not likely to encounter someone with that skill in a home game unless your are playing for VERY high stakes. Enjoy ! PS: If you think casino poker games are cleaner....guess again....other techniques are used there to gain and edge. [/ QUOTE ] Can you be any more cynical....this is clearly not true |

Re: Accused of cheating
Just ask him if he wants to deal for you, then yell at him if he glances down at the cards for 1 instant while shuffling or dealing .
Personally I hate dealing. I was in a decent size home tourney ($525 buy-in), and the table dealt random cards to determine the permanent dealer, of course I was selected. I told everybody I am a terrible dealer, and the first hand I accidently exposed the entire muck. Someone else immediately volunteered to take over for me, and all was well with the world. |

Re: Accused of cheating
Please don't take my comments the wrong way, 99% of poker players are honest and play poker for fun or excitement, etc.
But, it aways pays to be aware of what can be done. For example, if you "randomly" select a dealer....a lot boils down to HOW you select the random player. Once that technique is known...a knowledgeable person will know how to influence the "random" selection :-) I also stated that coming across someone who can do a "greek bottom" (second from the bottom deal) is rare. So, as long as you are in low to medium stake games, I would not worry. Marked cards are by far the easiest for amatures to ring into a game and the gamblers riffle test will catch the most common types of "cheap" marked decks. The most important thing is to be knowledgeable, aware, alert and HAVE FUN ! :-) |

Instead of flipping out like you did, ... [/ QUOTE ] there were any number of low-key, rational ways to handle it. Sounds like you were kind of tired, and not on your best behavior. I think if you approach these guys in a conciliatory manner, there's a good chance you'll be invited back. |
